Twisted Card Sketches #24

Good Friends and Stars

Back on track for the Twisted Sketches Card #24 this week—my first time using from my Grungeboard stash too! What do you think? The sketch is located here: www.twistedsketches.com.  I rotated it to the right.  The twist is “tiny“. I started with a card base made from Black Embassy Cardstock, cut to 8.5″x5.5″ and folded in half. Taking some blue Recollections cardstock and cut it to 3″x4.75” and adhered it. Keep a bit of this for layering under the sentiment. Sentiment is from Fiskars “Friends” clear stamp set, stamped in Adirondack Denim dye ink. Tear this and the extra blue (just a bit bigger) toward you to make a deckle edge and define the edge with the denim ink. The flourish is Grungeboard, Stripes, Elements set–it was all in one but wouldn’t lay down as I wanted it to so I trimmed the smaller bit and put it where I wanted it to go 😉 but FIRST–I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmermist in Copper, and while that was still wet and sort of puddled, I used a Robert Simmons round synthetic brush to charge in some Walnut Ink, then dried the whole lot with my hair dryer on low air (heat gun was MIA). I like the “experienced penny” look of the copper in the grooves and the brown/copper blend elsewhere. The star brads are from JoAnn’s–did you see both of them? Here’s a close up of the “experienced penny”

detail of 'experienced penny' effect LOL

Well, I was pleased and impressed with the results– teehee!
Also had a GREAT card class today at our library with the lovely April teaching us how to do her serendipity cards to use our scraps. Always fun to have class and see creative friends, even tho’ our numbers were low today.
Happy Crafting! P.

Awesome card Paula! Love the sentiment and how you “framed” it with the layers of torn paper!
