Vintage ATCs for a swap

Vintage ATCs for Robin's Swap

Vintage ATCs for Robin’s Swap

Made for Robin’s swap at Craft Therapy. Images are from GeckoGalz. I made the background by stamping a text stamp with StazOn ink over plain cardstock. Ribbon from Stampin’ Up. ATG adhesives. Think the paper and diecuts are DCWV. Will correct later, if not. Cutterbee scissors to fussy cut. Paper flowers.

Day 5–a little irony for the Smeared Ink 12 Days of Christmas 2011

Six Geese a'laying ATC

Ironic that my project is for the traditional 6th day of Christmas (Six Geese a’laying) and today is the 5th day of our hop. I used a red cardstock ATC base, a Paper Studio scrap, and the text is a trimmed business card, stamped with Archival Jet Black Ink and a Recollections text rubber stamp. The primary image is from Beccy’s Place blog (Dec. 2010 she did the entire 12 Days of Christmas in digis & that’s on my list of projects.) The gorgeous grays, bronze eggs & light olive green vine & leaves are colored with Prismacolor markers. These are complimented with Bic Markers for the lights, berries, nest & scarf. Printed on a Georgia Pacific white cardstock, colored & clipped out. I have a small text stamp that says, ‘six’ that’s hiding from me at the moment but I see it adding in red or green maybe. Add a fluffy bit of tulle in a bow & voila’! Hope you like it & that you’re enjoying hopping along!!

Ghost of Christmas Future--What if no one believed?

It’s day two of the Smeared Ink 12 Days of Christmas and the design team will be featuring some rockin’ new Christmas images from Smeared Ink!
My project uses the North Pole image, printed in triplicate. I used Distress Stickles in Red and green & translucent glitter from Studio G along with Polar White Flower Soft to accent the image. The background is from the Words & Music ATC backgrounds from GeckoGalz (November) collection. The skull and sign are layered twice, the hat 3 times. I hope you enjoy! I’m loving the comments from Day 1–Thank you SO much!!! Be sure to check out the Christmas blog list for more awesome Christmas goodies–most with Smeared Ink images and the Design Team blog list for features of the brand spanking new images!!! Enjoy, happy crafting and have a fabulous weekend!!

Gingersnaps Creations Encouragement Magnets Swap

Art themed magnets

I’m participating in the US portion of the Encouragement Magnets swap at Gingersnaps Creations group. I started with Staples magnet sheets (could be printed with an inkjet printer) and trimmed it to ATC size (2.5″x3.5″). I cut a Bristol pad (Strathmore) sheet to ATC size and attached them to the magnets with Elmer’s Dual Tip quick drying glue. The images are from Gecko Galz Pre-Raphaelite collage pages, except the artiste who is from the GeckoGalz Gibson Girls collage sheet. She was colored with Staedtler colored pencils and trimmed out. The paintbrush is made with a toothpick, hair (someone got a trim recently ;p), glue, dental floss tape & acrylic paint. The sentiment is stamped with Forest Green Stazon ink and cut out. The elements were applied and then trimmed to stay within the ATC size. The flowers on the others were from American Crafts. There’s some gold leaf. The sentiments are stamped with Palette hybrid ink in Noir Black on vellum. The leaves are cut with Slice Vintage elements card and Bazzill Basics cardstock.  I hope the recipients will enjoy them and thanks to Ali for hosting the US portion of the swap.

GECKO GALZ Mermaid’s Purse

Mermaid Purse

When I saw all the gorgeous sea oriented goodies from the July release at Gecko Galz, I thought of a trip to an aquarium near Virginia Beach where the guide told us about the “mermaid’s purse”—a puffy little black piece of sea detritus that was the egg casing for, I think, a conch. And I thought, what girl doesn’t love a beautiful purse!! I know a few ladies who no longer carry one, but even they seem to appreciate a beautiful one.
I began with a chipboard purse blank from a scrapbook kit from Michaels (I think they are Colorbok but will have to check). I printed the beachy keen papers (the large part of the purse was printed 5×7 and the handle was from the ATC Beachy Keen page). The starfish, beach babes, seahorse and sting ray were printed as passport size 45 mm x 55 mm, trimmed, colored with colored pencils and layered on. The compass and anchor are from the collage sheet that includes the Titanic and other nautical wonders. The decorative fibers (I was thinking seaweed but not sure a mermaid would use this just to decorate her bag so it can be faux or a renewable resource) are fun fiber yarns. It was fun to do and I still want to add something but not sure what. The shell “clasp” was printed wallet size and colored with metallic colored pencils.
There are also some awesome birthday collage sheets that I want to get to work with but haven’t gotten that worked out yet. (So I’ve used Beachy Keen, Sail Away, and Splish Splash). There’s a sale going on. Check them all out at There’s also special items available for purchase just for newsletter followers each month and some freebies at the shop site each month. I’ll be back with more fun creations soon. Happy Crafting! Paula

Under the Sea ATC

This is the disappearing post from last summer ;).  This was published in Scrapbook News and Review in August 2010.  Something I whipped up, forcing myself to add dimension to an ATC. See I usually store my ATCs in trading card pages and so I tend to make them flat but wanted to start adding dimension. This one was a fun experiment. I used Glimmermist Copper & Periwinkle and a teal one I made on some recycled Tyvek envelope. Stamping was with Ranger Vintage ink in Licorice. The mermaid stamp was from Big Lots and then fussy cut out. Used Perfect Pearls in Forever blue on her scales & forever purple on her comb & mirror. Forever red on her hair—all these were applied with water, then layered with Worn Lipstick Distress Stickles. The seahorse and shell are die cut with Cuttlebug Under the Sea (2×6). Then there are fibers and dried lavendar to simulate seaweed, etc. Just in front of the shell, that’s gold tissue paper punched with a Martha Stewart punch, crumpled & layered.  Still not quite what I wanted but definitely dimensional LOL. Thanks for looking & Happy Crafting! P.

Gingersnaps Swap SOAR ATC

I”m in a swap at Gingersnaps Creations for the Yahoo Group to make an ATC with the theme SOAR. I used Bristol board sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmmermist in Copper & Periwinkle and some homemade in Teal to create the back ground. The flourish is from Fiskars and stamped in Adirondack Slate. The eagle from a stamp in the hand and stamped in Ranger Licorice. The quote was typed up on the computer. The kraft and blue layers are cardstock from Michaels’. Thanks for looking!

What happened to Paula? LOL

Hi all! Miss me? Sneaked off on a vacation June 12-19 and the Twisted Sketches gang were terrific to let it be a true vacation! Thanks so much to Anam & all!! Meanwhile I have been trying to catch up on swaps, LAUNDRY, housework and some of the yardwork because we returned late Sat. and DH had to go OOT for work on Tuesday for the rest of the week. Since it stormed Mon. evening, he didn’t get to mow so I said I would but: the back wheel on the mower broke off and something had knocked a HUGE branch out of the maple tree (guess when I’ll be volunteering again hehehe!)
Thought I’d share these two things–an ATC made for a swap at Smeared & Smudged Ink (note: the site will be relocating soon so watch for a new link as soon as I can get you one) and a Chunky book page for a swap I hosted–How does your garden grow? (I also made some paper doll clothes but didn’t take pics! and some postcards but didn’t get a clear scan of them). The ATC for bombshells and bling is this one

LUCK be a lady ATC

And the chunky book, not so good pic, is here.

How does your garden grow? page

It’s on a 4×4 chipboard coaster with the background stamped with flowers & ferns, then the words. My FAVE part and why you have to take a peek is the flower. That’s heart-shaped woodles, colored with permanent markers and glued with Loctite super glue, topped with a button. Two for the leaves and two sets of 4 for the petals. Check back Saturday for another twisted sketch card! TFL
Happy Crafting! Paula

It’s been a while since I played with ATCs

but the Smeared and Smudged Ink Group “Art in Your Pocket” had an ATC swap for April with an open theme but each must include “paint”.  Someone, er –um, maybe me ;), got carried away.  For the background, I started with a piece of off white cardstock.  I began to drizzle, dob with a stencil brush, and smoosh Liquitex Matt Basics Red and Blue acrylics, then various crafting acrylics in White, Caribbean Blue and Burgundy.  Even as acrylics, I got impatient for them to dry and got out the heat gun, which added a few bubbles.  I also spritzed liberally with Pewter Shimmering Mist and Copper & Periwinkle Glimmer Mists (Tattered Angels).  Let all this dry overnight and trimmed to pieces 2.25″ x 3.25″ and mounted to burgundy cardstock trimmed to ATC size.  The image & sentiment are from Fiskars/ For the Birds Set clear stamps & stamped in Black Archival Ink (Ranger).  Check out the great group at: More
