Steampunk and ArtChix style cards swap

at Craft Therapy Facebook group. (I did two sets).

Vintage ATCs for a swap

Vintage ATCs for Robin's Swap

Vintage ATCs for Robin’s Swap

Made for Robin’s swap at Craft Therapy. Images are from GeckoGalz. I made the background by stamping a text stamp with StazOn ink over plain cardstock. Ribbon from Stampin’ Up. ATG adhesives. Think the paper and diecuts are DCWV. Will correct later, if not. Cutterbee scissors to fussy cut. Paper flowers.

What I’ve been up to (at least part of the time)…

and trying to learn about my camera & revive my green-ish thumb to provide sketching subjects.

and trying to learn about my camera & revive my green-ish thumb to provide sketching subjects.

It seems it’s been FOREVER since I posted and I’ve missed ya! Hope you’ve missed me too. (fluttering eyelashes, slightly pouty lower lip) so…last spring I coached my dd’s t-ball team and in the fall I coached her soccer team.  I picked up a little extra work from spring to fall.  THEN in October, my beloved aunt passed away after being in failing health for about 4 months, rapidly progressing the last 6 weeks.

Then life got interesting, heh heh.  I got a sinus infection then developed walking pneumonia while on the antibiotic around the first of November.  A couple of “colds” later, and in January, still having the cough and a new sinus infection, they wanted to test me for whooping cough.  The only good news there was that if it was whooping cough, I had already been treated AND I was midway of the duration.  Feeling better now but still tire easily and cough some evenings, esp. if it’s cold.

BUT I did manage to start back to being a bit creative this year 🙂 YAY!  With everything going on last year, I hadn’t had time to continue on my design team duties and honestly hadn’t done much crafting on my own.   So enjoy….

Gingersnaps Creations Encouragement Magnets Swap

Art themed magnets

I’m participating in the US portion of the Encouragement Magnets swap at Gingersnaps Creations group. I started with Staples magnet sheets (could be printed with an inkjet printer) and trimmed it to ATC size (2.5″x3.5″). I cut a Bristol pad (Strathmore) sheet to ATC size and attached them to the magnets with Elmer’s Dual Tip quick drying glue. The images are from Gecko Galz Pre-Raphaelite collage pages, except the artiste who is from the GeckoGalz Gibson Girls collage sheet. She was colored with Staedtler colored pencils and trimmed out. The paintbrush is made with a toothpick, hair (someone got a trim recently ;p), glue, dental floss tape & acrylic paint. The sentiment is stamped with Forest Green Stazon ink and cut out. The elements were applied and then trimmed to stay within the ATC size. The flowers on the others were from American Crafts. There’s some gold leaf. The sentiments are stamped with Palette hybrid ink in Noir Black on vellum. The leaves are cut with Slice Vintage elements card and Bazzill Basics cardstock.  I hope the recipients will enjoy them and thanks to Ali for hosting the US portion of the swap.

4×4 coasters and a card

I made some 4×4 chipboard coasters (beer mats) for the Gingersnaps Creations hearts swap. For some reason, my mind kept saying it had to be a red heart. The photos are from my faux family collection, the stamps are various but mostly foam stamps.
The card uses Coronado Island stamps and was created for Robin’s lighthouse/seashore cards swap at InspireSwapChat.
I have some other things I’ve been working on that I can’t share yet or getting ready for some school activities with my children.
Check back Saturday for a new twisted sketches card.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting.

Vintage Note Cards with decorated envie swap, a surprise and…

Can’t find a satisfactory way to upload the video and am somewhat bummed. Could try AGAIN with the webcam built into the laptop OR –this gets my vote–photo tutorial to come, step by step. It won’t take too many ;).

I made these note cards for a swap at ISC hosted by my friend Marsha. Hope they are OK. The pics are some I bought in a lot and scan for projects like this. The backgrounds are dinner napkins, mounted on freezer paper, then trimmed to fit. The diecut elements were made using the Making Memories Slice and the Vintage Findings design card (thank you!!). Some Fiskars clearstamps and InkaStamps unmounted stamps to decorate the white envelope with Timber Brown StazOn.

"Vintage" note cards with decorated envelopes for ISC swap

And this last is created by one of my budding little artists here–a collage on a big piece of kraft paper by my 5 yr old. Think it may still be a work in progress but I’m impressed. So grateful that both of my kiddos enjoy making art and crafting & that I am able to support & encourage them in their efforts. (The shoes and water bottle are only paper weights –so far 😉 )

Charmed, I hope!

Ink Stains Charm Swap

If you haven’t discovered the InkStains with Roni blog yet, go here:
She recently hosted a swap for handmade charms and this is one of mine. Hope you like it! The base is a “fender washer” and the hanger is a washer “sandwich”. The assorted bits are watch parts all glued in place with E6000. A silver jump ring for hanging was added after the pictures were taken. Would love your comments! Happy Crafting, Paula

Twisted Cards Sketch #27 (and some other stuff I’ve done lately)

This was the end of Term 1 for the Twisted Sketches Card teams.  I’ve enjoyed working with these great designers and all of Anam’s fab sketches. Some of the ladies are moving on but some of us will be returning to share more work with you.  The sketch for this one is at and the twist is “love”.  Lots of ink on this one but no stamps!  The folders are Cuttlebug Script and one from a Love set of minifolders.  There’s white cardstock, embossed and then inked with red pigment ink.  Add some DCWV red cardstock with a torn edge (this is the back of a glitter card base–used the glitter elsewhere) and some red ricrac from JoAnn’s.  Hope you like!

Meanwhile I was in a Sunflowers Cards swap at the StampingCreations Yahoo group and made these using some K&Co Papers and Brown cardstock.  The papers are 12×12 but I cut out bits and pieces I liked.  LOVE this pad! LOVE it!

And last but not least, I made a card for World Cardmaking Day on Saturday.  Had plans for more but went to visit my in-laws as they will be going out of town soon and needed to see the kiddos.  They were expecting company so I hated to take more than a tote of supplies and didn’t prepare as well as I thought.  This one was from that DCWV Thinking of You card kit in a stack.  Have bits and ideas but need some more embellies and haven’t gotten them together yet so you just get to see this one.  LOL

Serendipity Scraplings with punched PaintChip flowers

These were made for the Gingersnaps Yahoo Group swap this month.  The base is cardstock 1.5″x4.25″ as folded.  Trimmed some blue color family serendipity scraps to 1.25″ x 4ish” and adhered.  Used Martha Stewart punches (I think they’re Cosmos and Hydrangea Blossoms) and various purple color family paint chips to make loads of flower bits.  Then shape those (curl the petals up and round & layer) and adhere with Scotch Quick Dry glue.  Fun and easy to do—a great chance to use up some scraps.  You can add a quick sentiment on the cover or inside & tuck in a lunch box or coat pocket to bring a smile.  Great for a bookmark or gift tag too.

a homemade postcard for some lovely swap friends :)

I’ve been in another fun postcard swap hosted by the lovely Marsha at ISC and decided to go ‘artsy and inspirational’ since it was open theme. No fancy details here this time—took some Whispers stamp pads and colored in a random background on Bristol paper, then started building from there with stamps that caught my eye, layering more colors to bring things forward or push them back. They were fun to do and I hope the recipients enjoy them (and maybe the folks at the USPS too.) Don’t forget to check out the new card sketch challenge at Happy crafting! ~P.
